Start with the operating profile

Give every potential partner the same picture of the operation. Without it, quotes are difficult to compare and hidden assumptions appear after launch.

  • SKU count and product dimensions
  • Order profile and expected peaks
  • Launch calendar and inbound pattern
  • Packaging and presentation standards
  • Countries, carriers and delivery promises
  • Expected return rate and return rules

Check intake and quality control

The customer promise starts when product arrives, not when an order is placed. Ask how inbound stock is identified, checked and made available, and what happens when physical product and source data disagree.

  • How are SKU and quantity discrepancies recorded?
  • Which defects trigger a hold or escalation?
  • Who decides whether stock can become sellable?
  • How quickly is the brand told about an exception?

Make presentation measurable

Premium presentation cannot live only in a brand guideline. Translate it into observable packing rules: folds, tissue, inserts, protective materials, labels and the treatment of special orders.

Follow a return back to stock

Returns reveal how connected the operation really is. Walk through inspection, grading, repacking, stock updates, quarantine and customer-service escalation. A fast return is not useful if the product re-enters stock in the wrong condition.

Use a pilot to test ownership

A focused pilot should include normal orders, an inbound discrepancy, a delivery exception and a return. Agree who owns each decision, how quickly it must be resolved and what evidence will be reviewed before expanding.
